Fountain pens have fascinated me since childhood. Back then, even a simple 5-rupee ink pen was a dream to own. As I grew older, I longed for the sleek, auto-filling Chinese fountain pens that seemed just out of reach. By the time I reached my 12th public exams, I realized the speed of my writing depended entirely on the smoothness of the pen’s nib. I spent hours training my favourite inline nib, carefully softening it by scratching it at a 60-degree angle on rough cement floor, coaxing out the smoothness that brought me speed. So today, I dedicate this piece to the unsung hero—the nib of the pen. While the pen and ink may play their parts, it’s the nib that drives the performance, together like three musketeers delivering words with grace and ease. Here we go….

எண்ணத்தின் ஏவாளாய் நான்

பொய்யும் மெய்யுமாய் நான்
பஞ்சமின்றி பரிமாறும் நான்

ஏணினியின் தீண்டாமையால் நான்
கடந்தாலும் விலைபோகும் நான்

செய்யா தண்டனையிலும் நான்
செய்நன்றி மறக்கப்படுவது நான்
கழுத்துடைத்து கொல்லப்படுவது ஏன்
என்றதாம் பேனா முனை  ஆனந்தனிடம் !
