The essence behind the theme “தீபாவளி” reflects the change and evolution I’ve witnessed. In my childhood, தீபாவளி was a time of pure joy, spent with my sister, roaming the streets throughout the day. However, in recent times, தீபாவளி has become more commercialized and shifted mostly indoors. Nowadays, people consider தீபாவளி complete after a lively pattimandram or the grand finale of a single 5000 wala. I also recall a nighttime train episode between my house and my childhood buddy Ashok Nambiar’s house, a tale worth a separate script.

What stands out to me in this memory are my evergreen recollections of the small aluminum school box I once owned. The handle broke after three years of use. Over the following three years, I ingeniously replaced the handle with a black shoelace, carrying it to school with a sense of pride. Interestingly, it later transformed into our designated fireworks holder box for Diwali festivities.

பத்து முறை பிரித்தடிக்கி,
பூட்டிய அலுமினியப்பெட்டியை
பத்துமுறை திறந்து பார்த்த அவ்விரவு...

விடியும்போது என் வீதியின்
முதல் வெடி எனதென்ற 
ஏக்கத்தால்
உறங்க மறுத்த அவ்விரவு ....

வருடத்தின் அந்த ஓர்நாள் மட்டும் 
காலை ஐந்து  மணிக்கு எழ நினைத்து
காக்காய் உறங்கத்தில் அவ்விரவு ....

காலை, எவனோ வெடித்த
லெஷ்மி வெடியில் துடித்தெழுந்து
வேண்டா வெறுப்பாய் ஓர் எண்ணை குளியலிட்டு 
நடையாய் நடந்து டெய்லரிடம்
தைத்து வாங்கிய 
தீபாவளி உடையில் வெடிகள் ஆரம்பம்

இதில் அம்மாவின் கூவலில்
பாதியில் ஓடி வந்து
இரெண்டு இட்டலியை இறுக்கமாக விழுங்கி
கையளவு பலகாரம்
நிக்கர் பாக்கட்டில் திணித்து
மீண்டும் தெருவுக்கு ஓடி
ஊசிவெடி சரத்தை 
நாள்முழுதும் வெடிக்க பிரித்து,
அதில்  இரண்டை மட்டும்
என் தங்கைக்கு தாரைவார்த்து, 
பின்னர் மாற்றான் வாயிலில் 
வெடிக்க மறுத்ததை 
வெக்கமில்லாமல் பொறுக்கி,
மருந்தெடுத்து
கூட்டுக் குவியலிட்டு எரித்து
இரவின் வாணவேடிக்கைக்கு
தயாராகி......

என
திரைகடலோடி திரவியம்தேடி
பசுமையான 
நினைவுகளில் மட்டுமே
தீபாவளி கொண்டாடும் 
பலகோடி மனிதர்களிள்
இந்த பிரகாசமான ஆனந்தனும்  ஒருவன்.

Nirmal Chandramouli –  I should say that Nirmal was not just the “Darling” of the MBA block but he was the “Darling” of  our campus as well. On a serious note , he was a special human being,  who always went the extra mile. I always admired his “down to earth” nature –  then and now. He is a great example of the statement  – ” your good deeds define your heights ” . You have an amazing family as well Normal.  Here you go…

Jovitha Franklin – Jovi was a “Breed Apart” in many sense from our MBA batch. I had admired his attitude in many occasions during our college days and still I am. The lesson “take life as it comes”  was something I learnt from him. He was very special in one key aspect. He was one of the very few friends with whom I could resume a conversation after years of pause but from where we left with the same same tone and frequency.  Happy Birthday and here you go Jovi.

Sreelatha Velayutham – Sree is a friend in need as they say. Having known her since my post graduation days, she has been a lady of surprises. Sree is an absolute treat as a friend who can be a mentor during hard moments. A brilliant individual with amazing soft skills.

MuthuKumar Ramalingam – He is one of our MBA batch mates and a very good friend of mine. A personality whom every human being would love to have by his/her side. A mature professional and a ‘Gandhian’ by personality. I have looked up on him during my university dates. Now that he is in a Top position in his professional career he hardly finds time to interact with us. He does a lot of charity work in spite of his busy schedule. We regularly wish him on his birthdays and below is one such .I did this for him in 2016.

வேடங்களின் வேந்தனே
கடவுளை பார்த்தால் 
மாதம் ஒரு முறை

கேட்கும் நான் "பேராசைகாரன்" தான்

Ganesh  Anbarasu– He  is one of our MBA batch mates. We had some lovely moments during our university days that I still cherish. Very sharp thinker and loves to contribute to the society. I always admire Gannu, for his simplicity and his intentions to keep him part of the society . He lends his hand as much as he can to the needy and he is a very content human being. He is now a ‘Entrepreneur’ and part time ‘Teacher’. I did this for him in 2016.

Bipin Cyriac – He is one of our MBA batchmates. Very kind at heart. Creativity was his strength. During University days, whenever I used to visit his hostel room his hand made pen holders and lamp shades impressed me. Did this one below in English because he is a Malayalee hence his twin brother – “creativity”. There is one incident that is still green about this friend. It was day one of MBA campus interview. I was very sick on that day and was home. Out of the 5 people who were eligible for citicorp selection process, I was one because of my CGPA. Bipin drove all the way from our campus at Adyar to Thoraipakkam hearing this news to pick me up.

The inspiration behind ‘மெழுகுவத்தி’ stemmed from the challenges faced by villages back home, juxtaposed with the generations that emerged from this environment. Observing the contrast between our current state and the past, it prompts the more affluent non-residents to extend a helping hand to those in need.

What resonated with me in this is the message conveyed by a reborn candle.

உன் கிராமத்து இருளின்
உயிர் மூச்சி நான்
நான் கரைந்த அவ்விரவில்
ஆயத்தமானாய் கணிப்பொரி தேர்விற்கு - அன்று

The inspiration behind “கிழக்கும் – மேற்கும்” stems from my 15-year experience in the UK. Having lived there, I’ve had the opportunity to observe both sides of a seemingly ordinary daily coin, sparking a desire to compare the fundamental characteristics that distinguish Eastern and Western personalities. When I mention ‘East,’ the reader undoubtedly understands the specific region in the East that I am alluding to.

What I found intriguing about this theme was that, after completing the script, I delved into research articles on the same subject. I came across some well-crafted pieces that covered elements similar to those in the script. One that particularly caught my attention was by Yang Liu in 2007 (http://bsix12.com/east-meets-west/).

The inspiration behind ‘பாம்பட பாட்டிகள்-FACEBOOK’ was the observation of people around me spending what they consider ‘quality’ time on Facebook. The sheer quantity and nature of the posts triggered contemplation about the diverse preferences among individuals. Facebook, being a highly accessible social tool, serves as a canvas reflecting one’s personality. Despite this, there exists a limited amount of valuable content that fosters awareness. As we are aware, the good is often outnumbered by the bad.

What intrigued me in this piece was the juxtaposition of compassion with a time-honored entity (பாட்டி) against the backdrop of the most modern innovation in the realm of applications (Facebook). This dynamic unfolds with the utilization of cutting-edge technology such as Big Data.

காலை வணக்கம் சொல்லி சிலர் 
கடவுள் படங்கள் பகிந்து சிலர்
சமைத்த உணவை பீத்தி சிலர்
பிடித்த பாடலை பகிர்ந்து சிலர்
பார்த்த திரைப்படத்தை திரித்து சிலர்
தெரிந்த கருத்தை தளர்த்தி சிலர்

The following content is a tribute to all Tamil film directors who have consistently made a difference. This difference lies in their ability to reach a global audience and provoke thoughtful reflections. My memory recalls this trend dating back to the 1970s and onwards.

மகேந்திரன் - உறவுகளின் பாசத்தை வெளிச்சத்துக்கு கெணர்ந்தவர்
இவரின் "முள்ளும் மலரும்",  பூச்சூடவேண்டிய வாடா மலர்

பாலச்சந்தர் - இயக்குனர் சிகரம் மட்டுமின்றி , 
கலைஞர்களை கண்டெடுத்த கலைமாமணி
இவரின் "தண்ணீர் தண்ணீர்" இன்றும் தாகம் தீர்க்கும்

பாரதிராஜா - கிராமிய வாடையை நெடியின்றி அளித்தவர்
இவரின் "கிழக்கே போகும் ரயில்" இன்றும்  கிராமத்து விருந்து

பாலுமகேந்திரா -  காதல் தரைமுட்டாத ஆழம் என்ற காதல் கள்வன்
இவரின் "மூன்றாம் பிறை" அம்மாவாசையின் மழுநிலவு

விசு -  நான்கு சுவர்களுக்குள் இருக்கும் நான்கு கோடி உணர்வுகளை திரையில்
உணர்த்தியவர். 
இவரின் "சம்சாரம் அது மின்சாரம்" படமல்ல பாடம்

கமல் - படைப்பு பாதி துடைப்பு பாதியென வியக்க வைத்த உழைப்பாளி

மணி- தமிழ் திறைக்கு "class"  என்ற இரத்தினத்தை முதன்முதலாக அறிமுகப்படுத்தியவர்

பாலா -  பாலுமகேந்திரா என்ற துரோனரை மிஞ்சிய கொடூற சிஷ்யன் 
இவரின் "பிதாமகன்" மொழிகளுகக்கெல்லாம் அப்பாற்பட்ட ஓர் படைப்பு

வாசுதேவ மேனன் - சுயசரிதையின் தந்தை 
இவரின் "வாரணம் ஆயிரம்" வாழ்வின் வர்ணங்களை சித்தரித்த சரிதம்

மிஷ்கின்  - variety யின் விஞ்ஞானி
இவரின் "ஓனாயும் ஆட்டுக்குட்டியும்" தமிழின் Bourne Ultimatum.

வெற்றிமாரன் - நம் அன்றாட வாழ்வின் இருட்டான தருணங்களை அவர் ஆடுகளங்களில் ஒளியில் காட்டியவர் 
இவரது "விசாரனை" தமிழ் திரையை உலக அரங்கில் ஓரு கட்டம் மேல்நோக்கி 
நகர்த்திய படம்.

இவர்களுடன்  இவ்வரிசையில் சேர தயாராகும் என் மைத்துணனுக்காக
