Witnessing my fellow community toil in the field of IT, not only in India but also in other developed nations, left me perplexed. This contemplation led to the creation of the script ‘Cyber Coolie.’ I crafted this piece for my cousin in celebration of his achievement in winning the ‘Best Employee Award.’ The note and the poem I composed for him are shared below, as posted on his Facebook page.
“As your elder brother, I extend my heartfelt congratulations first. It’s a tremendous achievement. On the other hand, I do harbor concerns about your ‘work-life balance.’ Drawing from my 16-year experience in the UK, I believe there’s a marked difference between ‘working to live’ and ‘living to work.’ I hope that someday you will shift gears and find that equilibrium. The poem below, from my blog, is dedicated to you. It includes an audio file in case reading proves challenging. Once again, congratulations, and aim for more awards in the 8 hours of your working day. Keep up the good work, buddy.”
'I' நான் குடிக்கிறேன் 'T'eaயென ருசித்ததில்லை இவன் ஒருநாளும் Arts படித்தவனும் Architecture படித்தவனும் கைக்கூலி இதற்கு 90 ருபாய் சவாரிக்ககு 100 ருபாய் கொடுத்தால் 10 ருபாய் சில்லரை வேண்டாமென பழக்கி வைத்தான் Auto Driverரை தவில் வித்வான் இவன் தோளில் Laptop காலைக்கடனில் மட்டும் அதற்கு விடுதலை கைநிறைய சம்பளம் பைநிறைய வேலை இருட்டில் போய் இருட்டில் திரும்புகிறான் அதே நாளா அடுத்த நாளா - தெரியாது நேரமறியாமல் வீடுவந்து இழுத்துப்போத்தி உறங்கி நேரமரியாமல் விழித்து காலை Tiffin உதறி பதினோரு மணி Brunchசாம் பாத்தி கட்டி அடிட்கிறான் - Canteenனில் Offshore போகிறான் அதற்கும் சங்கு இது பிரம்மச்சாரியின் கூத்தென்றால் சம்சாரியோ - மனைவி கை பிடித்ததைவிட Mouse பிடித்தது அதிகம் இவன் அன்றாட அலுவலோ ICU unitல் Ticket வாங்கிய பெரியவரின் சடங்கு வீடுபோல் War ரும், Post Mortem அனாலிசிஸ், Heartbeat ரிப்போர்ட், Failover failure, எல்லாருக்கும் சொல்லியாச்சா Delivery head எங்கே ? எனும் போது தான் ஓரு CRM server failure கூத்தென தெரிகிறது Weekendகளில் செயின் இல்லா ஓர் கொத்தடிமையிவன் தீபாவளியும் , பொங்கலும் பார்த்து வருடங்கள் பல Best employee awardடுக்கு மேடையில் தன் பேரை அழைப்பதறியாமல் அன்றும் Patch Script தவிலில் ஓட்டுகிறது இவ்வாத்மா இவன் ஒரு IT தொழிலாளி தம்பி உனக்கு சிறு வேண்டுகோள் என்றாவது நீ நிர்வாகியானால் தொழிலாளி பகல் பார்க்கட்டும் உன் சீடனாக்கிவிடாதே!
