The inspiration behind ‘மெழுகுவத்தி’ stemmed from the challenges faced by villages back home, juxtaposed with the generations that emerged from this environment. Observing the contrast between our current state and the past, it prompts the more affluent non-residents to extend a helping hand to those in need.

What resonated with me in this is the message conveyed by a reborn candle.

உன் கிராமத்து இருளின்
உயிர் மூச்சி நான்
நான் கரைந்த அவ்விரவில்
ஆயத்தமானாய் கணிப்பொரி தேர்விற்கு - அன்று
 
இன்று  Miami கடற்கரையில்
நங்கையவள் கை கோர்த்து
Candidate Light டின்னரில்
உன்னையே மறந்த உனக்கு
மீன்டும் வாழ்வொளி எற்றும் என்னை
நினைவில்லையா?

இரவில் மட்டுமா?
பகலிலும் இருளில் - உன் கிராமம் 
அதன் அடிமைகளாய் இன்றும்
நாங்கள் - பொரியாளனே!
ஒளியேற்று உன்சந்ததிக்கு
விடுதலை எங்களுக்கு - என
உன்னை கைகளில்லாமல் தொழுது
கரையும் நான் - மெழுகுவத்தி
