இளமை மறதி

The inspiration behind ‘இளமை மறதி’ stems from my struggle to recall common things as I seemingly grow ‘younger’ each day. While age undeniably influences memory, I find it astonishing how my grandfather effortlessly remembered the names of every Mahabharatham character during our summer holiday story sessions when he was in his late 70s.

What resonates with me in this piece is the parallel drawn with ‘Finding Nemo’ and the character Dory, highlighting the challenges of memory.

சாவி வைத்த இடம் !
கைபேசியின் கடைசி எண் !
எங்கோ பார்த்த முகம் !
தொண்டைக்குழியில் சிக்கி
நின்ற பெயர் !
என எண்ணிலடங்கா மறதியின் 
பட்டியலில் 
ஆழ்ந்திருந்த என்னை ,
தட்டி எழுப்பிய என்  தங்கையின் 
தோலைபேசி பிறந்தநாள் வாழ்த்து
நினைவூட்டியது..... 
என் முதுமையில்
கூட்டப்பட்ட மற்றோர் எண்ணை.
