The inspiration behind ‘இறைவி’ emerged from my recent two-year experience in India, where I encountered remarkable working-class women. Their dedication, assertiveness, and punctuality in handling daily tasks left me in awe. Recollections of the first 17 years of my life, starting with my mum, lingered in my thoughts—a routine that remains unchanged in many average-income, working-class Indian families.

What stands out for me in this piece is its meticulous depiction of the finer aspects of daily life.
